| Communal Violence in Guptanagar |

| Ahmedabad : Communal vikolence erupted in the sensitive Guptanagar area on Tudesday evening after a Muslim boy and a Hindu shopkeeper clashed over an issue of parking space. |

| Police said mobs of both the communities took to streets and pelted stones at each other, during which a woman and a boy were injured. |
| |
| RM Patel, inspector of Vejalpur Police Station, said that they have registered cross-complaints of both the parties and initiated the process of arresting the mischief-makers. |
| |
| Police sources said that Mohammed Shoeb, 15, residing at Millatnagar in Guptanagar, had gone to a dairy owned by Bhola Bharwad to purchase milk. |
| |
| "After a verbal duel, Bhola slapped Mohammed Shoeb over the issue of parking his cycle." added police. After getting informed about the incident, Shoeb's brother in-law, Asgar Ali Syed, rushed to the dairy and reprimanded Bhola for his act. "Within a few minutes, a mob gathered on the streets and started heavy stone pelting. We resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob," said Patel. Police patrolling has been intensified in the area to avert further clashes. |

| Alcoholic sets self ablaze |

| Ahmedabad : An alchoholic, Namdev Savante, 55, a resident of Teja rabari chawl in Amraiwadi, set himself ablaze at home after a minor argument with his wife over food on Tuesday. |

| Police said that Savante, now in hospital, often quarrelled with his wife when denied money for liquor. Savante has two kid and works as daily wager with a local transport company. |
| |
| "On Tuesday afternoon, he asked his wife to cook him some food. As there was nothing in the house, his wife went out to get some vegetables." added a police source. |
| |
| Police said during that time, Namdev doused himself with kerosene and set himself on fire, "On hearing his screams, neighbours rushed to save him. He darted out of the house in flames. A few people poured water on him," said sources. |

| AMTS driver dies in a Bus |

| Ahmedabad : An alert passenger averted a major tragedy, when an AMTS driver fell unconscious on the wheels of a bus on a busy Gujarat Vidyapith road during peak traffic hours on Tuesday. |

| Police sources said that the driver, Sattar Shaikh, a resident of Sanklitnagar in Juhapura, laterdied of a heart attack at the V S Hospital. |
| |
| Fortunately, one of the passengers noticed that Shaikh had fallen unconscious and took control ofthe bus before it rammed vehicles, saving many commuters from a potential disaster. |
| |
| Police sources said Shaikh was on routine duty. "As the bus was nearing Gujarat Vidhyapith from Income Tax circle, a passenger seated on the front seat noticed that Shaikh had fallen unconscious while driving." added police. |
